EDMONTON - Canadian figure skater Kaetlyn Osmond has withdrawn from next weeks Rostelecom Cup due to a hamstring injury. The 17-year-old native of Marystown, N.L., pulled out of Skate Canada International last month in Saint John, N.B., with the same problem. She has missed several weeks of training because of the injury. "It was a difficult decision, but Kaetlyn and her coach felt it was important to get back to a full training regimen to be prepared for the next events in the season," Skate Canada high-performance director Mike Slipchuk said Tuesday in a release. Osmond, who is back training, has battled injuries throughout the season. She was also sidelined for all of September with a stress reaction in her foot -- a precursor to a stress fracture. She finished fifth in the short program at Skate Canada, but withdrew before the free program due to pain in her hamstring. At the time, Osmond said the hamstring injury was something that has bothered her at times over the past few years.
